Do I need experience paddling to go on one of the float trips?
No. The great part about the sections of river included in our float trips is that they are very beginner friendly. For the most part, the river is simply moving current. Small sections include class I/I+ rapids that can be easily navigated, even by a novice.
What should I bring on a trip?
Depending on the trip that you select, you will be on the river anywhere from 2-5 hours. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks to sustain you. Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and other sun protection will also make the trip more enjoyable. We encourage you to wear shoes that can be securely fastened to your feet, closed toe are preferable as there are rocks in the river. We do sell all of these items in the shop in case you forget.
What happens if it rains?
We will not cancel a float trip if it is raining. However, if there are thunderstorms occurring before you depart, you will be able to reschedule your trip for another time that day or another day.
What happens if there is a thunderstorm while I am on the river?
If an unexpected thunderstorm occurs while you are out on the river, we advise you to paddle to the bank and exit the water to wait out the storm.
Do you offer shuttle service?
Yes. If you have your own gear we are happy to provide shuttle during on of our normally scheduled float times. It is $10/person to Hominy and $15/person to Bent Creek.
Where should I park when coming for a float trip?
Please park in the grassy lot behind the shop. The entrance can be accessed off of Pearson Street and through the chain link fence gates next to the purple boat.
